AGL's Renewables Engineering team is seeking a Wind Operational Reliability Engineer to play a pivotal role in maximising the performance of our wind portfolio. This role will see you at the centre of our efforts to ensure our assets operate safely, efficiently, and with maximum availability.

Key responsibilities

As a Wind Operational Reliability Engineer, you will focus on the development and optimisation of maintenance strategies across our fleet of wind assets. Your work will directly reduce unplanned downtime, improve safety, and unlock innovative ways to extend asset life.

  • Monitor and interpret condition monitoring data and turbine performance trends.
  • Analyse real-time and historical operational data in collaboration with the Operations Diagnostics Centre.
  • Own and develop asset intelligence systems to track performance trends.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, research partners, Asset Services, and site teams to address systemic reliability challenges.
  • Assess and apply emerging technologies (drones, digital twins, AI-based analytics) to enhance asset management.

About you

You may be an experienced engineer from the renewables sector, or you may bring reliability experience from another heavy industry such as power generation, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, or transport infrastructure. What matters is your ability to apply reliability engineering principles and asset management practices to improve performance across distributed assets.

To succeed, you will bring:

  • Experience applying Reliability Engineering techniques and Asset Management principles.
  • Strong understanding of HSE requirements and their practical application.
  • Ability to provide clear technical support to diverse and geographically spread teams.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, including root cause analysis and performance diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Possess or be eligible/willing to obtain Chartered Registration with Engineers Australia..

Why join us?

  • Work at the forefront of Australia's energy transition with one of the country's largest renewable operators.
  • Shape how emerging technologies are applied to real-world energy assets.
  • Opportunities for career development, including leadership pathways and support toward chartership.
  • Flexible working options with opportunities to visit site and collaborate across a national portfolio.
  • Be part of a team committed to safety, innovation, and sustainability.
