Role

  • Permanent, Full Time

The VET Curriculum Designer is responsible for designing, reviewing, and continuously improving Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), unit plans, assessment tools, and educational materials across Acknowledge Education's nationally recognised qualifications. This role ensures all VET courses comply with ASQA and training package requirements and reflect current industry practices and learner needs.

The role requires a deep understanding of competency-based training and assessment, collaboration with subject matter experts and trainers, and the ability to translate complex training package requirements into engaging and assessable learning content. The VET Curriculum Designer supports quality assurance processes to maintain educational excellence across all VET programs.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Compliance

  1. Develop compliant assessment tools aligned with current best practices and training package requirements.
  2. Create or revise unit outlines, learning resources, and mapping documentation based on assessment principles and rules of evidence.
  3. Collaborate with trainers, industry stakeholders, and academic leaders to validate curriculum content and assessments.
  4. Integrate workplace and simulated training contexts within course design.
  5. Update assessment tools and documentation as needed.
  6. Review and update Training and Assessment Strategies periodically.

Collaboration and Academic Support

  1. Work with Heads of Department, Course Coordinators, and trainers to ensure curriculum consistency across campuses and delivery modes.
  2. Advise on interpretation of training packages and updates to training products.
  3. Participate in validation and moderation processes as required.

Quality Assurance and Industry Engagement

  1. Maintain records of curriculum development and review in line with policies and regulations.
  2. Engage with industry representatives to ensure training reflects current workforce skills.
  3. Assist in audit preparations by providing relevant curriculum and assessment documentation.

Reporting and Governance

  1. Assist in developing curriculum-related reports for the VET Quality and Compliance Committee.
  2. Participate in Course Advisory and Review Committees (CARC) to discuss updates.
  3. Incorporate feedback from validation, moderation, audits, and industry consultation into continuous improvement processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or TAE40122 or equivalent as per current ASQA requirements).
  2. Experience in curriculum and assessment design within the VET sector.
  3. Strong understanding of the Standards for RTOs and training packages.
  4. Experience in mapping assessment tools and designing compliant assessments is desirable.
  5. High-level written communication and document formatting skills.
  6. Experience with learning management systems and online platforms is desirable.
  7. Commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.
  8. Effective collaboration and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
