Role

  • Permanent, Full Time

The VET Curriculum Designer is responsible for the design, review, and continuous improvement of Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), unit plans, assessment tools, and supporting educational materials across Acknowledge Education's suite of nationally recognised qualifications. This position ensures all VET courses are compliant with ASQA and training package requirements and reflect current industry practices and learner needs.

The role requires a deep understanding of competency-based training and assessment, strong collaboration with subject matter experts and trainers, and an ability to translate complex training package requirements into engaging and assessable learning content. The VET Curriculum Designer supports the organisation's quality assurance processes and plays a critical role in maintaining educational excellence across all VET programs.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Compliance

  • Develop compliant assessment tools using current best practice in competency-based assessment and in alignment with training package requirements and the institution's Training and Assessment Strategies.
  • Create or revise unit outlines, learning resources, and mapping documentation aligned to the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
  • Liaise with trainers, industry stakeholders, and academic leadership to validate curriculum content and assessment.
  • Ensure appropriate integration of workplace and simulated training contexts within course design.
  • Incorporate improvements and updates into assessment tools and documentation.
  • Contribute to the review and update of Training and Assessment Strategies as needed.

Collaboration and Academic Support

  • Work closely with Heads of Department, Course Coordinators, and trainers to ensure curriculum alignment across campuses and delivery modes.
  • Provide advice and support on the interpretation of training packages and changes to training products.
  • Participate in validation and moderation processes when needed.

Quality Assurance and Industry Engagement

  • Maintain records of curriculum development and review in accordance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with industry representatives to ensure training products reflect current and emerging workforce skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to internal and external audit preparations, including provision of curriculum and assessment documentation.

Reporting and Governance

  • Support the development of curriculum-related reports for the VET Quality and Compliance Committee.
  • Participate in Course Advisory and Review Committees (CARC) to present and discuss updates to course and assessment documentation.
  • Ensure feedback from validation, moderation, audits, and industry consultation is incorporated into continuous improvement cycles.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or TAE40122 or equivalent as per current ASQA requirements).
  • Experience in curriculum and assessment design within the VET sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Standards for RTOs and relevant training packages.
  • Experience in mapping assessment tools and designing compliant assessment instruments - desirable.
  • High-level written communication and document formatting skills.
  • Experience with learning management systems and online delivery platforms is desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
