Upholsterer- Furniture Manufacturing

As part of our team, you will be responsible for manufacturing commercial furniture, such as office chairs, lounges, and ottomans, and ensuring the highest level of quality in all your work.
Key Responsibilities: Utilise strong upholstery experience to manufacture commercial furniture.
Demonstrate knowledge of tools, fabric, foam, and frames used in upholstery.
Work with patterns used in furniture manufacturing, making, reading, and working off them.
Produce templates for marking and cutting fabric.
Calculate measurements and prepare materials required for furniture upholstery.
Assemble frames and materials used in furniture upholstery.
Perform stapling, gluing, and nailing fabric onto framing.
Operate industrial sewing and overlocking machines.
Fit pre-sewn, custom-shaped fabric covers to commercial furniture framing.
Insert zips, darts, tucks, and piping on plan or patterned heavy fabric.
Utilise air-powered staple guns, cutting tools, and hand tools for making furniture.
Required Skills and Experience: Australian Standards of LMF31002 Certificate III in Upholstery, LMF31102 Certificate III in Production Upholstery, MSF30713 - Certificate III in Upholstery or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience.
NOTE: Qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Strong upholstery experience is essential.
Experience in manufacturing commercial furniture like office chairs, lounges, and ottomans.
General knowledge of tools, fabric, foam, and frames used for upholstery.
Ability to make, read, and work off patterns used in furniture manufacturing.
Proficiency in calculating measurements and preparing materials for furniture upholstery.
Experience in assembling frames and materials used in furniture upholstery.
Skills in stapling, gluing, and nailing fabric onto framing.
Proficient in operating industrial sewing and overlocking machines.
Ability to fit pre-sewn, custom-shaped fabric covers to commercial furniture framing.
Knowledge of inserting zips, darts, tucks, and piping on plan or patterned heavy fabric.
Familiarity with air-powered staple guns, cutting tools, and hand tools for making furniture.

The position guarantees 38 hours per week, with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 6.00am to 2.30pm and Friday 6.00am to 12.00pm Opportunity for Training and Mentorship: We are also interested in candidates who can impart their knowledge and training to the next generation of young upholsterers.
We recognise the need to fill gaps in the industry and are committed to training apprentices in this specialist field.
