Furniture Craftsman Job Description

We are seeking skilled furniture craftspeople to join our team in producing high-quality commercial furniture, such as office chairs, lounges, and ottomans.

Main Responsibilities:

• Utilize expertise in upholstery to manufacture commercial furniture.
• Demonstrate knowledge of tools, fabric, foam, and frames used in upholstery.
• Work with patterns used in furniture manufacturing, making, reading, and working off them.
• Produce templates for marking and cutting fabric.
• Calculate measurements and prepare materials required for furniture upholstery.
• Assemble frames and materials used in furniture upholstery.
• Perform stapling, gluing, and nailing fabric onto framing.
• Operate industrial sewing and overlocking machines.
• Fitness pre-sewn, custom-shaped fabric covers to commercial furniture framing.
• Insert zips, darts, tucks, and piping on plan or patterned heavy fabric.
• Utilize air-powered staple guns, cutting tools, and hand tools for making furniture.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Australian Standards of Certificate III in Upholstery, Certificate III in Production Upholstery, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience.
