About the Role The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of infection prevention and control.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is the manager of this service and works both as a clinical expert and manager for those within the team.
The role contributes significantly to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standard 3 for CHQ and provides infection management and prevention expertise across CHQ, as well as contributing to state and national forums related to paediatric infection prevention and control.
Provide an advanced level of autonomous infection prevention and control clinical and professional practice, representing the service at various internal and external forums.
Develop, implement, and evaluate an Infection Prevention and Control Program for CHQ HHS.
Make advanced decisions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Undertake operational leadership responsibilities.
Apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Enact strategies that promote a work-based culture supporting education, learning, research, and workforce development.
Lead a small team of Clinical Nurses and an Administration Officer, assuming operational and professional management responsibilities.
Provide paediatric infection prevention and control clinical expertise and representation at HHS, State, and National levels.
Participate in and manage Infection Program Service Improvement and Risk Reduction Projects and initiatives.
Engage in HHS strategic, clinical, and collaborative opportunities.
