The DTMI is seeking a dynamic and strategic PRIS Officer to lead the implementation of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) legislation – a landmark initiative recently introduced by the WA Government.
The PRIS Act 2024 is designed to protect the personal information of Western Australians while enabling responsible information sharing across government.
It introduces guiding privacy principles, a mandatory breach notification scheme, and a statutory framework for secure, transparent data sharing.
This is a brand new position where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how the Department manages and shares information responsibly.
You'll work closely with senior leaders, project teams, and stakeholders across the organisation to embed privacy principles, develop governance frameworks, and build a culture of trust and transparency.
What you'll do: Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks aligned with PRIS legislation.
Provide strategic advice on privacy and information sharing to senior leaders.
Coordinate responses to privacy complaints, data breaches, and information requests.
Drive change management, training, and capability-building initiatives.
Represent DTMI in inter-agency forums and contribute to whole-of-government collaboration.

About you Proven expertise in privacy legislation, information governance, and data management within the public sector.
Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop practical, strategic solutions.
