The Training & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the ALS (Australian Lifeguard Service) Training & Education team to deliver high quality, consistent training, and education to lifeguards in line with RTO compliance requirements.

About the role

This role is responsible for ensuring all lifeguard systems and training meet, or exceed the obligations outlined in contracts with the relevant Local Government Area or other contract partners. The Training & Compliance Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that staff remain compliant to Surf Life Saving and Industry/Government standards.

Some of the key duties will include:

  • Oversee RTO advocacy, management, and quality assurance related activities.
  • Ensure adherence to requirements of the RTO as the key representative for the business.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a dedicated lifeguard award that encapsulates all relevant units of competency to obtain Cert III in Public Safety.
  • Maintain a database of all international lifeguard awards in conjunction with the Recruitment & Recognition Coordinator.
  • Liaise with the Recruitment & Recognition Coordinator to ensure that all lifeguard applicants hold relevant qualifications during recruitment period.
  • Extract and analyse relevant data to identify training needs and requirements for each Council area.
  • Assist in the planning of annual lifeguard schools across the state.
  • Represent ALS on relevant external networks and working groups.

What you'll need

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment or ability to undertake this training within 3 months of starting.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASQA and RTO requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accredited training programs.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • A sound knowledge of the Surf Life Saving education system or the ability to acquire this knowledge.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, a conceptual approach to planning, and the ability to make sound judgements.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills and a proven ability in determining priorities, coordinating activities and meeting deadlines without supervision.
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills (including presentation and report writing) and the ability to communicate to stakeholders at any level.
  • Able to travel intra-state when required.
  • Unrestricted Motor Vehicle Licence
