About the Opportunity

APS6 Finance Officer, 6-month contract. This full-time position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment, ensuring a great work-life balance. While the role is based in Richmond, some in-office time is required. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to apply.

About the Role

The Agency Budget and Finance Controls Branch is responsible for the financial management of the Agency and Scheme, and provides insightful financial reporting to enable strategic decision making.

Key accountabilities include producing audited annual financial statements, the Annual Report, budgets, monthly financial reports and forecasts. The branch manages the maintenance and development of finance systems, analysing financial performance, and providing financial advice to support decision making and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. They provide financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets.

Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse and interpret statistical reports to support work plans and strategic planning.Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure timely project implementation.Coordinate and provide cost estimates for system change requests and manage quality assurance activities.Develop stakeholder correspondence, including financial reports, corporate documentation, and ministerial responses.Conduct detailed financial analysis, including budget variance, forecasting, financial administration, and prepare business cases and reports. RequirementsAustralian CitizenshipDegree in accounting and finance with membership in a recognised professional accounting body, and experience in financial accounting roles including monthly reporting, asset accounting, and general ledger management.Proficiency in AASB accounting standards, Commonwealth agency reporting requirements, and writing executive briefs and technical accounting position papers.Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate across teams, and demonstrated critical thinking for business improvement processes and strategies.Advanced system skills, preferably including SAP, Excel, and KPMG Reporting Models.
