Opportunity to join a growing business as the Executive Manager, Operational Risk and Compliance, reporting directly into the Chief Risk Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic risk and compliance advice to the Executive Leadership Team, business owners, and the business' Group representatives in support of business initiatives, regulatory changes, and operational process improvements.
  • Design and maintain the RMF to ensure it is commensurate with the nature, size, and complexity of operations and is in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of the RMF and adherence to it by: developing and maintaining appropriate policies, procedures, and tools; providing data and insight-driven risk and compliance reporting to Executive and Board meetings; developing and implementing effective risk processes; conducting risk assurance activities; and ensuring that legal and regulatory obligations are satisfied.
  • Implement and maintain risk and compliance registers through identification, assessment, and management of risks, obligations, and controls, and ensure the controls are adequately tested.
  • Oversee the implementation of incident, issue, and complaints management processes and report key insights and trends to management and governance bodies.
  • Provide and present regular (monthly and quarterly) reporting over risk appetite and key risk indicator metrics, assessment and changes of the organisational risk profile (including control environment effectiveness), and facilitate effective management and Board oversight of the organisation.
  • Coordinate and oversee policy and procedure reviews, in liaison with internal audit, external audit, regulators, and business owners to resolve issues.
  • Act as a key point of contact with external and internal auditors.
  • Model and actively promote positive and risk-aware behaviours through delivery of risk training, timely identification and rectification of incidents and issues, and foster effective cross-functional engagement and collaboration.
  • Lead 2 direct reports.

Key Requirements:

  • 8+ years in risk management, ideally in insurance or financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk management, risk identification and control design/implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience of influencing senior business management, strategic thinking and prioritisation.
  • Prior experience communicating with regulators.
  • Knowledge of APRA prudential standards and ASIC regulatory guides.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
