We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join the NRL as the Referee Development Officer in Central QLD. The Referee Development Officer for Central QLD is responsible for growing participation in Match Officials and improving retention by providing education, accreditation and development programs throughout the region.
This role will provide an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute towards the growth of the game in Central QLD and the recruitment, retention, education and development of match officials that meets the needs of the game. There are over 800 registered referees and 25,000 players in Central QLD, this role will see you work with numerous stakeholders, volunteers and fans who contribute to making Rugby League the Greatest Game of All.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about Rugby League and growing the game wholistically in Central QLD through participants, stakeholders and pathways. You'll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. You're a pragmatic problem solver, team player and have previous experience in the sporting industry. Previous officiating experience is not compulsory.
In the role you will:
- Lead and deliver recruitment, retention, accreditation and education programs for referees and referee coaches.
- Lead and deliver pathways and development programs in conjunction with the state leagues to ensure transition programs from community rugby league into development and representative competitions
- Develop robust partnerships with relevant bodies to ensure relationship with schools, clubs, associations and government authorities enhance rugby league presence and participation across the region.
- Manage and increase the referee provider network to ensure geographical coverage across the region
- Promote, manage and administer NRL community Referee & Development programs e.g., NRL RISE, Beyond the Goal Posts
Ideally you will have:
- Experience in the sporting industry including but not limited too; coaching, officiating, first aid and/or administration
- Experience in program development and facilitation
- Project and event management experience
- Highly effective communication and relationship building skills
- Drivers' Licence
- Current Working with Children credentials for paid work and proven experience working with children
