Richmond, Australia REA Group Full time
  • Sustainability - We are certified carbon neutral and committed to reducing our impact on the environment.
  • Charities – We have long-term partnerships with charities working to address homelessness.

We're REA

REA Group ) is not your average digital business. From humble beginnings in a garage in Melbourne's east in 1995, we have grown into a leading global digital business, specialising in property.

With bold and ambitious goals, we are changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we're proud to be named in Australia's "Top 5" Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

The role sits within the Nebula Squad in PropTrack. PropTrack provides property data and technical platform solutions to customers in the financial and government sectors. The Engineering Team within PropTrack works together to deliver solutions to our internal and external customers. It is the core delivery centre for developing solutions to meet customer priorities and align with PropTrack's technology strategy.

The Nebula Squad is a team that looks after the Desktop Platform. This is a modern web-based app that allows valuation firms to complete valuation requests made by Lenders. This application is built with NodeJS, React and Typescript is hosted in AWS using a range of different services. The team leverages best practices and follows a strong culture of technical excellence advocated by the REA tech community. We have built this platform with strong design principles with modern responsive UI/UX in place. In addition, the team also looks after a legacy Coldfusion based service which is due for decommissioning.

The team also collaborates with other important stakeholders in the business including other teams that provide our foundational property data and relies on common REA platforms for deployment, infrastructure, logging, monitoring, alerting and analytics

What the role is all about

  • Working closely with a team of a Lead Developer and other developers, a BA, a QA, a Delivery Lead, a Designer and a Product Manager to deliver great outcomes for the Desktop platform and its customers and the wider REA.
  • Designing, implementing, testing and deploying new software features using a variety of technologies and platforms. You'll be working across the full stack, it tends to be a nice blend across UI, backend and API development.
  • Being a Senior, you will be helping to lead the technical aspects of projects, initiatives (or slices), taking these projects from the pre-discovery stage all the way through to production.
  • Again, as a Senior, you will be helping to support, guide and grow less experienced technical team members, being a go-to person for them to work with to learn and grow individually.
  • Continually assess and improve the health of our system guided by REA's system health rating methodology, ensure we adopt best practices and contribute and maintain our open and collaborative culture.
  • Working in a wider agile team with other developers, business analysts, quality analysts, product managers & product designers where we value iterative experimentation and data driven decisions.
  • Learning and contributing to the tech community. We are constantly learning together, mentoring each other and striving to do things better.
  • Work with product to understand business priorities and communicate technical options, report on progress and express ideas.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong skills in TypeScript, ReactJS, GraphQL and NodeJS development
  • Strong skills in modern software development techniques such as object orientation, test driven development, continuous integration, and iterative releasing
  • Strong skills in AWS Services.
  • Someone who can communicate and collaborate effectively with other developers, product managers, designers, business analysts, etc.
  • Good communication skills and experience collaborating with other team members.
  • Someone who is wanting to be part of a high performing, highly collaborative team who likes to work with others to deliver great outcomes and have some fun along the way.
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring and supporting others, helping other technical people grow and solve problems together.
  • Someone with strong knowledge of the web technologies and software development environments.
  • Someone with experience developing products that scale and are highly performant.
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or similar highly desirable.
  • Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens.
  • Someone who likes to work in a fast paced and agile environment.
  • Experience with Coldfusion is highly desirable for maintaining some of our legacy systems.

The REA experience

The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we'll never stop caring about. This is a place to learn and grow. We're committed to your development – both professionally and personally. Your experience with us is something we take seriously.

We offer:
