In this role, you will play a crucial role in quantitative risk analysis, developing innovative methodologies, and creating advanced tools and models. You will be at the forefront of identifying and measuring risks in energy market activities overseen by our Trading & Transition Business Unit and beyond. About the Role

As a Wholesale Risk Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring operational excellence by monitoring and maintaining risk metrics in line with policies and regulations.
  • Quantifying risks and opportunities in wholesale energy markets by analyzing market data using quantitative, statistical, and data science techniques.
  • Enhancing existing risk processes to align with current market conditions.
  • Developing risk models in R and Python, and presenting analysis results to Trading and Finance stakeholders through Tableau reporting.
  • Providing analytical, systems, process, and documentation support to the risk team and other business units for risk management, including implementing suitable controls for duties segregation.
  • Constructing forward curves and valuing derivatives for mark-to-market purposes.

How can you contribute to the Clean Energy Transition

  • Minimum Education: Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative field (finance, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent).
  • A genuine interest in commodity markets, the energy sector, and the challenges posed by the shift to a green economy in Australia. A business-oriented mindset with strong quantitative skills for working in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical modeling techniques and their practical application. Advanced skills in analytical tools and programming languages like R, Python, C++, Matlab, and SAS.
  • Knowledge of cloud-computing environments and distributed computing frameworks is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate in a team environment and simplify complex topics.
  • Experience with financial risk management tools, techniques, and the development of risk metrics such as Value at Risk, Margin at Risk, Cash Flow at Risk, and stress testing.
