Our client is one of the latest players in the Australian energy market, and they are looking for a Principal Analyst to join their team. As the Principal Analyst for Wholesale Energy Markets, you will be responsible for leading the analysis of complex energy markets to inform decision-making, identify trading opportunities, and manage risks. You will work with a team of experts in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilising cutting-edge technologies and models to gain insights and drive results. This is a critical role within the organisation, and it offers the opportunity to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute market analysis and forecasting to inform trading strategies and decision-making
- Identify trading opportunities and manage risks to optimise trading outcomes
- Conduct in-depth analysis of energy markets and provide insights to support the development of corporate strategies
- Lead the development and implementation of models and tools to support market analysis and forecasting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure trading strategies align with broader business objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts and stakeholders to stay up-to-date on market trends and opportunities
- Communicate market insights and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as economics, finance, engineering, or mathematics
- 7+ years of experience in wholesale energy market analysis, with a focus on forecasting and risk management
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets and modeling tools
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Experience working with energy market regulations and policies is preferred
