Lead the change, from the frontline

The Financial Accountant is a 12-month fixed term opportunity based in Brisbane. The role is part of the Group Finance Department and is responsible for providing timely and accurate reporting of Shell Energy's financial performance and financial position and to assist with other group financial reporting tasks and projects as required.

With respect, integrity and honesty, you will:

  • Assist with production of monthly reports and other financial information as required;
  • Be responsible for month end recurring tasks including bank reconciliations, fixed asset register maintenance and standing journals;
  • Assist with various audit queries as required;
  • Assist with preparation and lodgement of various regulatory reports; and
  • Assist the accounting team more broadly with project work and administration tasks.
  • Foster good working relationship with external auditors of Shell Energy.

What you'll bring

Here's what you'll need to thrive in this role:

  • CA or CPA qualification is essential;
  • Relevant experience in a similar role or experience working in public practice;
  • Ability to prioritise and plan workload and tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to analyse transactions and interpret the accounting impact;
  • Financial systems experience including intermediate excel skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with results focus;
  • Proactive at making continuous improvements;
  • Superb attention to detail; and
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
