About the Role

As the Freedom of Information (FOI) Advisor, you'll be a key player in our Information Regulation team, collaborating with the FOI Lead and Manager to provide expert guidance and support throughout the University.

You'll manage multiple complex requests, partnering with stakeholders across all levels and engaging with external parties and regulators to ensure timely outcomes.

Building strong working relationships with academic and operational divisions, and within University Chancellery, you'll drive high-quality and responsive service delivery.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert guidance on FOI legislation and University compliance, aligned with the legislation and professional standards, and in the best interests of the University.
  • Driving continuous improvement of FOI and other information access requests by optimizing frameworks and tools to meet organisational needs and ensure efficient service delivery for applicants.

Who we are looking for
We're seeking an experienced and proactive FOI professional to join our collaborative and supportive team. You're a collaborator with the ability to balance and prioritise tasks in a complex and fast-moving environment.

With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you'll build and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the University.

Your demonstrated use of sound judgment and evidence-based advice will enable you to influence others and negotiate outcomes persuasively.

You will also have:

  • Postgraduate qualification and extensive experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training in a relevant area.
  • Expert knowledge of domestic legislation and practices regarding FOI and the ability to translate this knowledge into practical advice, tools, and programs.
