Community Safety Officer Local Government

Maxima's Recruitment Services are seeking an experienced Community Safety Officer for a position with their Local Government client, based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane.


Reporting to the Community Safety Coordinator, you will assist with implementing the Council's community safety crime prevention initiatives, programs, and campaigns.

Working 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday, paying a casual rate of $43/hr + super.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake community engagement and promotional activities throughout the City of Logan in order to increase awareness of community safety and crime prevention initiatives
  • Foster positive partnership opportunities with key government agencies, non government organisations and other community networks such as neighbourhood watch groups
  • Positively represent the Council at key community safety and crime prevention forums
  • Develop and maintain internal engagement processes relating to community safety initiatives between the Community Safety Program and key branches across the council
  • Manage project operational budgets as allocated under the direction of the Community Safety Coordinator
  • Identify funding opportunities and complete funding submissions.

To Be Successful:

  • Qualifications in criminology, criminal justice, or social sciences would be highly regarded
  • Current C class drivers licence
  • The ability to work outside normal business hours on occasion
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of community based initiatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of crime prevention principles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate with a variety of stakeholders.
