The Role


Expressions of interest are sought from engaging and suitably qualified and experienced Library Technicians to provide a high quality library service for staff and students at the Central Library (Keilor East campus).


The Library Technician will:

  • Work cooperatively as part of the library team, providing information, services and advice as required and fulfilling all rostered duties.
  • Assist in the location, purchase, production, acquisition and processing of digital, audiovisual and traditional library resources and support materials in accordance with curriculum and teacher requests.
  • Provide research, advice, instruction, information services and assistance to staff and students.
  • Produce DVDs, teacher notes, QR codes, instructions, procedures, operations manuals, information and online materials as required.
  • Assist with online subscriptions and the deployment of ebooks and audiobooks to library devices as required.
  • Operate the Spydus library management system, entering data and updating records.
  • Understand and follow copyright requirements and provide copyright information to clients.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings.
  • Engage in the school's professional learning and review programs.
  • Other duties as required.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Relevant library qualifications or experience
  • A strong customer service focus, with the ability to develop positive relationships with students and staff
  • Effective ICT skills, including proficiency with Mac computers and experience with Spydus would be helpful
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Effective organisational skills
  • A sound working knowledge of library equipment
  • Ability to build effective work relationships as a member of a small team
  • A commitment to student care and wellbeing, including a commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • Valid Working with Children Check and eligibility to work in Australia
