The Role


The School seeks an outstanding classroom teacher who is knowledgeable in the Science curriculum area and in current pedagogical thinking to join in a full-time fixed-term replacement position, commencing from Term 1, 2024 through to the end of Term 2, 2024.

As a Secondary Teacher of Science, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive material to students across Years 7 to 10.


Your duties will include:

  • Conduct lessons which are thoroughly prepared and designed to engage and challenge all students in learning in line with the school and Australian Curriculum's requirements;
  • Create a positive learning environment in the classroom which is respectful of all students present;
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, teaching and learning programs and of student assessments;
  • Liaise with parents in relation to student issues as required;
  • Actively support, promote and embrace school policies and procedures relating to student welfare;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall teaching and learning experience;
  • Participate in cocurricular activities, including the school sports program (ie. Saturday sport) and other events as required; and
  • Meet VIT and national standards of teaching and regularly review personal professional knowledge and practice.
  • An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills;
  • Experienced in teaching secondary students;
  • Aligned with the school's values and policies;
  • Committed to delivering a highquality programme;
  • Eligible to work in Australia; and
  • VIT registered with relevant qualifications.
