Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.

In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.


Job Description:

  • As a Dispatch Supervisor, you will be a key player in our mining operations, responsible for coordinating equipment logistics and ensuring the smooth flow of production.
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Realtime dispatching and monitoring of opencut coal mining equipment and personnel.
  • Ensuring compliance with the 24hour production plan to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Providing leadership and direction to equipment operators in adherence to HSE policies.
  • Minimizing hang time on dig machines and queued time on trucks to meet and exceed KPIs.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the mine model, promptly reporting any discrepancies.
  • Collaborating with shift Supervisors and Engineers to minimize production and maintenance delays.
  • Ensuring a seamless transition between shifts, optimizing production targets.
  • Expert knowledge of emergency response and first aid equipment.
  • Efficient allocation and management of the haul truck fleet.
  • Monitoring Fleet Management System data for accurate representation of current mining operations.

Qualifications:

  • To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • 3 years' experience in open-cut coal mining operations (Desirable)
  • Proven experience in a dispatch or control room role.
  • Solid understanding of opencut coal mining processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Emergency response experience and relevant certifications (S1, S2, S3).
  • Competency in Fleet Management Systems such as Leica, Minestar, or Modular.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, highlevel computer literacy, and effective planning skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of mine workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Capability to make informed, intuitive decisions.
