Job Summary
The AEC is seeking a dynamic, strategically focused, experienced, and innovative leader to join its senior leadership team.
The opportunity:
- Australian Electoral Officer and State Manager, Western Australia
The Australian Electoral Officer (AEO) and State Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of a series of complex, interdependent and time critical operational projects and events across WA.
The range of program activities include (but not limited to) electoral event delivery, electoral roll management, and increasing electoral participation.
This role is your opportunity to positively contribute as a member of the Senior Executive team to bring drive and forward thinking to the agency while fostering organizational and people development.
You will maintain the quality of and uphold the integrity of electoral processes leading to the successful delivery of electoral events while steering the agency directions of the AEC Corporate Plan.
You will represent the AEC in a wide range of forums and build strong and enduring relationships with key stakeholders whilst maintaining strict impartiality.
About the role
- Discharging statutory duties in accordance with the Electoral Act, with respect to the administration of elections and redistributions.
- Ensuring the quality and integrity of electoral processes and events are maintained, including meeting all obligations under the Joint Roll Arrangements.
- Monitoring external developments and issues affecting the AEC and provide expert advice to the Executive Leadership Team, including the Electoral Commissioner on all matters effecting the AEC's operations and reputation in the State.
- Promoting greater electoral participation in local communities, through supporting the delivery of education programs, community engagement, and the AEC's Indigenous Electoral Participation Program.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will drive the performance of your team to ensure business outcomes are achieved and operational efficiencies are implemented, while also ensuring conformance with legislation, policies, procedures and processes.
The AEO will motivate and inspire staff to achieve organisational nationally consistent outcomes within budget parameters, while developing capability and maintaining a culture of high performance.
- Contribute to the development of the strategic directions and priorities for the agency, including influencing and contributing to the delivery of major agency outcomes and initiatives.
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies in collaboration with other senior leaders across the AEC and the APS, using change management and strategic workforce planning frameworks.
- Develop an environment that ensures sound planning, effective risk management, continuous improvement, and a strong service delivery focus.
- Cultivate accountability in the workforce by fostering selfreliance, resilience, and confidence in the pursuit of reaching AEC's goals. Nurture the AEC's high performing culture and uphold the APS and AEC Values.
- Identify and harness opportunities to build and strengthen effective collaborative working relationships and strategic partnerships that support the achievement of the AEC's strategic directions.
- Represent the AEC in dealings with other Government agencies, at conferences and other meetings dealing with your Group's and the agency's responsibilities and assist in any related matters.
