You will perform a range of routine and specialist diagnostic procedures in the Autoimmune-Immunobiology Laboratory, following Pathology Queensland's established accredited protocols and standards.

With increasing experience, you will apply independent scientific judgment in the analysis of patient specimens, making more complex clinical decisions under the clinical supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician.

Additionally, you will provide input in the development of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols, and participate in quality improvement activities as outlined in divisional and corporate management systems.

Conducting appropriate quality control procedures to ensure the validity of results is a critical part of this role. Once competent, you will participate in the after-hours on-call roster and weekend shifts.

You will make informed decisions to prioritize work based on test urgency and instrument availability in collaboration with the team.

Furthermore, you are expected to develop your personal knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.

The successful personTo thrive in this role, you should possess a strong background in Immunology attained through relevant tertiary education, with the expectation that your knowledge and skills will expand with practical experience.

Proficiency in executing established laboratory methods and procedures is crucial, alongside the ability to exercise scientific judgment and address increasingly intricate tasks within the Immunology laboratory setting.

Moreover, you must exhibit robust interpersonal skills, facilitating productive collaboration within your immediate team and across broader contexts, coupled with effective communication capabilities.

Additionally, you should demonstrate the capacity to function effectively within both single-discipline and multidisciplinary teams, operating under the supervision of senior practitioners in clinical practice.

Please note that candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a specialization in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.

Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to participate in after-hours on-call rotations and other shifts as needed.

Proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate governing body or association is necessary for appointment to this position, with certified copies of the requisite documents to be submitted to the relevant supervisor or manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
