Overview


The Project Officer performs project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives and contributes to process improvement to establish consistency and discipline in the department's project management approach.


Key Accountabilities

  • Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
  • Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous monitoring and evaluation of programs/ projects, including risk and contingency management, benefits realization, and program/ project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, and assess the progress and effectiveness
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
  • Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
  • Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decisionmaking and planning
  • Work with the broader technology team to establish a best practice project management methodology, associated standards, and tools across the group, to support the ontime, onbudget delivery of projects
  • Lead the implementation of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all technology program activity, performance and outcomes
  • Contribute to management of interdependencies and coordination between the PMO, and broader Agency to ensure timely and accurate communication of program/ project deliverable information, risks and issues, and KPI monitoring, evaluation and reporting
