This role will support the Academic Excellence Program (AEP). The Program will enable more academics at the University to realise their full potential across all domains of academic endeavour – as educators, researchers, entrepreneurs and leaders – to support the University in the 2032 strategic plan for enhanced achievements in education and research.

The Senior Organisational Change Manager is accountable for the design and delivery of Change Management solutions as an integral part of project delivery for the Academic Excellence Program (AEP). This includes identifying the appropriate change management approach within the project and business context; leading and managing activities within the AEP change management stream including the design, development and implementation of change management deliverables including communications; managing stakeholder expectations; working with the Change Lead to engage stakeholders and ensure business readiness; and, working collaboratively with other stream leads to identify, understand and facilitate transition activities relevant to the scope and scale of business impacts resulting from the changes being introduced.

This will work across all three workstreams of the program:

  • First work stream - Looking at career and capability framework for academics, providing clarity around academic activities and how to demonstrate achievement in those. to date there has been 9 months if co-design with academic community to develop a framework.
  • Second work stream – Systems, policies, processes and capability uplift to support the use of the framework.
  • Third work stream – People Willing and Able: This involves program engagement, people readiness, looks at capability framework needed, looking at cultural change to ensure this is successful.

Reporting into the Transformation Change Lead on the program you will be responsible for:

  • Undertake high-level engagement planning and strategy and provide audience-driven strategic messaging advice and leadership. Support the Change Lead in providing expert advice on engagement strategy and visioning.
  • Collaborate with key Program and business stakeholders to deliver formal consultation processes and artefacts in alignment with the Enterprise Agreement
  • Lead, support and ensure the development of high-quality audience driven messaging and content for a variety of engagement channels suitable for the University's projects. Monitor the overall effectiveness of channels and engagement opportunities and alignment with strategy and culture.
  • Conducts change impact assessments in collaboration with Project Managers, business and project owners and builds a deep knowledge of the impact of the planned project change on people in terms of the depth and scope of that change.
  • In collaboration with the Change Lead project manager, develops and implements plans for managing the change implications of strategic or transformational programs on people, technology and physical resources ensuring key requirements and risks are managed.
  • Identifies organisational preparation risks and ensures escalation to the appropriate level, includes risk mitigation strategies and plans within organisational preparation planning and action.

Skills and experience required:

  • 2IC Change Lead – this will work across all workstreams of the program.
  • End to end program experience needed.
  • Key audience is the academic community, this role will be entering into a period of extensive consultation with staff and entering into a big period of activity.
  • Higher education experience needed - Background working in University sector or Education sector is ideal/
  • Transformational and cultural change program experience
  • Comfortable dealing with internal partners and external providers.
  • Experience in HR career lifecycle processes will be needed.
  • Seasoned and deep experience in HR and cultural transformational programs.
  • Extensive consultation with staff and academics.
