The Manager, Academic Engagement is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and implementing frameworks and service models that position the Library as a key partner in the academic success of our students and staff. This role involves managing a diverse team across multiple sites, continuously improving service delivery, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

This includes:

  • Leading the development and implementation of strategies, plans, and programs
  • Collaborating on the creation, implementation, and review of the Library's policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the implementation and evaluation of a range of online and face-to-face teaching and research support programs, including those for targeted client groups
  • Enhancing and sustaining the quality and innovation of teaching and research support capabilities
  • Developing and implementing methods and tools for evaluating the effectiveness of programs, modules, and services.
  • Providing effective leadership and management of the Academic Engagement team, promoting employee engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Being accountable for team performance, setting objectives aligned with Library strategies and goals.
  • Managing resource allocation, staffing, and workflows to ensure best practices and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Leading the team to prioritise an evidence-based, user-centred approach to digital library programs.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW9 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus. (Awabakal and Worimi land)

About the Unit

The Academic Engagement team manages teaching and research support services and develop resources and programs that support researchers, higher degree research students, undergraduate and postgraduate students. Supporting research, the team provides expert advice in open scholarship, copyright, citation management, strategic publishing, data management, and literature reviews. For learning and teaching, the team develops open education resources, digital and information literacy programs and provides advice on how to embed online resources and skills programs into the curriculum. The digital programs function within the team supports the development of engaging online content for these purposes
