We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to lead our safety initiatives across the University of Newcastle. This role is integral to maintaining a strong safety record, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic WHS Leadership: Provide strategic WHS leadership and management oversight across the University, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- WHS Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert on WHS legislation, policies, and standards, providing advice to University leaders on safety processes.
- Safety Implementation: Lead the implementation of safety requirements for staff, students, facilities, and equipment, including SOPs, risk and hazard management, incident reporting, and audits.
- Training and Development: Develop and oversee comprehensive training and induction programs for all University facilities to ensure compliance and safety best practices.
- Review and Audit: Establish and manage a robust review and audit program, ensuring corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the University WHS team, fostering a positive and proactive safety culture and ensuring high-quality WHS support for all teaching and research activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including the University Executive, technical staff, and university-wide safety teams, to ensure WHS initiatives are aligned with broader strategic goals.

What We Offer- Competitive Remuneration: The remuneration for this position is pro-rated from $99,655 - $112,112 p.a. + superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
