The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence.

We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

About the role


We are seeking a pro-active Family Violence Practice Lead to provide leadership within The Salvation Army Family Domestic Violence Victorian Stream, Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Services.

This position works with women and children from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of victim-survivors of family violence.


Family Violence Services staff are required to work within a trauma and psychologically informed practice environment and all staff are expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the safety and support needs of all women and children accessing the services are prioritised.

This role will be instrumental in leading and delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence responses to victim-survivors seeking support.

The role will work in close partnership with the Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Services Leadership team to foster high quality service provision, as well as providing direct supervision and support to students undertaking Social Work placements within the program.

You will successfully

  • Management of a small case load of highrisk, complex cases referred into the program, including referrals received for Risk Assessment and Management Panels (RAMP)
  • Assist in the induction of new staff and ongoing practice development of the team including supporting practitioners to identify and resolve practice issues as they arise
  • Provide clientfocused supervision which includes reflective practice to family violence practitioners and social work students in order to ensure the delivery of highquality service provision
This is a permanent full-time position based across Windsor and Frankston, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 6. This position will provide a backfill function for the Senior Alexis Response Model Practitioner as required.

You will have

  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the causes of family violence and issues experienced in the lives of women and children who are experiencing or recovering from family violence
  • Demonstrated experience in leading family violence practice and teams within complex service delivery contexts
  • Experience, knowledge and competency in case management practices
  • Welldeveloped written, verbal and IT communication skills
  • A national police record check is required
  • A current and valid Working with Children Check
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence
