Operations/Commercial/Commercial & Production (TV and Online Content Division)

The Role


The purpose of this role is to coordinate and be responsible for a range of financial operations and administrative tasks relating to the acquisitions and commissioning of television broadcasting, online and digital rights for SBS Channels, including the end-to-end processing of all acquired and commissioned payments, in line with SBS's ongoing evolution in a complex multi-platform environment.


Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for a wide range of financial and administrative tasks relating to processing and tracking of disbursements and recoupments, maintenance of database systems, financial reporting and liaising with stakeholders.

Some of the daily tasks include (but are not limited to):

  • Under the direction of the Operations Manager Commercial, liaise with stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure prompt payments/disbursements for all acquired and commissioned content while also ensuring that all required documentation is accurate and available, and payments are processed within contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assist the Operations Manager, Commercial with tracking and reporting on recoupment.
  • Arrange for the supply and distribution of withholding tax certificates, either from the ATO or official SBS letters, to overseas stakeholders as requested.
  • Prepare correspondence relating to payment queries, requests for remittance documentation and other matters as they arise.
  • Other duties as may be required by the Operations Manager Commercial.
Business Systems & Processes

  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of payment details in ORACLE and IBMS databases.
  • Maintain up to date and well managed filing and reporting systems using proper naming conventions for contract files and related correspondence and documentation.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions for any Operational transactions as required.
  • Assist the Operations Manager, Commercial with the monthly reconciliation of financial transactions between ORACLE and IBMS systems.

About You

  • To be successful you will be motivated to maintain high standards in all aspects of your work, while also completing repetitive, complex rights data capture tasks using established databases.
  • It is important that you can confidently adapt to changing priorities, and that you are a highly organised multitasker who will maintain highlevel attention to detail and accuracy, within a deadline driven environment.
  • Previous experience in finance and/or administration, or a related support position within the Television or Film industry is highly desirable.
  • Because this role is such a key support for the team, we need someone who is efficient, reliable, and skilled in all aspects of administrative support.

This includes (but isn't limited to):

  • Experience in Financial Administration processes
  • Proven ability to meet and prioritise competing deadlines
  • Excellent electronic document and file management abilities
  • An understanding of IBMS (Broadcast management database) is desirable.
