Why Your Role Matters:


The Cultural Engagement Officer plays a key role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience portfolio, Wellbeing Pillar, in supporting the delivery of student-focused ethnocultural programs and initiatives within the Culture theme and in collaboration with other stakeholder units.

The role is responsible for developing and implementing student engagement opportunities and assisting with support, advocacy and promotion of activities of student organisations.


Programs and initiatives led by the Cultural Engagement Officer are culturally sensitive, inclusive, and foster a positive community experience at the University, with a particular focus on connections to international student cohorts.


Who You Are:

  • They thrive seeing fresh ideas come to life on campus with a diverse range of students involved. They are comfortable managing projects with competing priorities and deadlines as well as being a skilled communicator. They will have strong verbal and written communication, ideally having some experience with social media._
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of successful engagement programs with culturally diverse and young people.
  • Relevant program or project coordination experience, with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • A relevant degree from a higher education institution with relevant experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with excellent organisational skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
