The Operations Manager, Public and Environmental Health has accountability for approximately 140 FTE, Band 4 HR delegation, Band 5 financial delegation and a state budget allocation of approximately $35 M.

Initiate strategic governance programs with Pathology Queensland stakeholders to integrate business lines into one consolidated state-wide service. Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic management of a multi-disciplinary, diverse, high risk, state-wide service.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of service strategy and advocate at the statewide or national level.
  • Proven ability to represent an entire jurisdiction at the statewide and national level.
  • Proven ability to manage resources and programs effectively, efficiently, and ethically.
  • Proven ability as a leader in a diverse and complex scientific/health services organisation, with experience in service planning, professional standard development, and policy change.
  • Expert interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the demonstrated ability to foster effective and productive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to support staff through significant organisational change, ensuring at the same time that they remain focused on delivering on their core duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated strategiclevel human resource management skills across the operation of a complex, multidisciplinary workforce.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires, as a minimum, possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Applied Science.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in public health are desirable.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in business administration, public sector management or equivalent are highly
- desirable.

  • Travel may be a requirement of this role. Therefore, the ability to operate a class C vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement is required. Some intrastate and interstate travel may also be required.
  • It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR),varicella (chicken pox),pertussis (whooping cough),hepatitis B, tuberculosis.
