The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work.

As the Youth Project Coordinator you will manage and coordinate the delivery of youth focused projects within the Health Promotion and Policy team, Community Wellbeing branch.

You will lead City of Melbourne youth practices and support staff and works areas across other City of Melbourne departments.

This responsibility will include connecting and engaging with young people and the youth sector and responding to their needs and expectations.

You will lead the development of services, programs and spaces to include young people, as well as coordinating projects relating to this community.


What you will bring (selection criteria)

In addition, the position will require:

  • Completion of relevant formal degree qualifications in social services/community development with substantial relevant experience, or less formal education and extensive experience, or on-the-job training and relevant skills and experience to an equivalent standard
  • Demonstrated high level project management and service planning skills
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret business plans and strategies, professional bodies of knowledge, commercial and financial practices, how the council is structured and operates
  • Demonstrated negotiation, verbal communication and presentation skills in sensitive environments and proven ability to influence positive outcomes
  • Highly developed written communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to prepare high standard written reports and submissions to senior decisionmakers
  • Ability to represent City of Melbourne in meetings with officers in State and Federal Government, high profile stakeholders, community leaders and interest groups and other key bodies
