The Opportunity

Cochlear has an opportunity for a Director, Embedded SW Portfolio & Delivery Management based in our Sydney, Australia office. In this role, the successful candidate will Facilitate and drive end to end planning for all ES deliverables with relevant project managers, release managers and Product owners in the Embedded SW (ES) team.

This will include maintaining an overview of the ES portfolio and resource allocation and providing forecasting of resource gaps and needs while coordinating ES portfolio activities to ensure that the portfolio is strategically balanced to serve both short- and long-term business needs. Driving backlog, prioritizing and scheduling of new delivery requests to ES from the Product and System projects as well as new Embedded Platform programs for future product integration with key stakeholders across R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing and Clinical.

Responsibilities include yet are not limited to;

Embedded SW Portfolio Delivery

Work with product and platform development stakeholders across Cochlear Product development and manufacturing to establish and maintain ES portfolio objectives, roadmaps, priorities and backlog.

Portfolio monitoring and performance (health)

Ownership of Portfolio delivery performance KPIs and targets, defining and monitoring portfolio delivery quality and predictability KPIs.

Mentor and build strong Delivery Management team

Mentor and build capabilities with reporting ES Project, I&V Managers and Product owners, build a high performing team with a clear direction and priority setting for the ES portfolio.

Set direction and guide Integration & Verification team

With the I&V manager, drive development of an integration & verification strategy that is scalable and efficiently supports testing of platform and shared core asset elements across product variants and product lines on reference test platforms.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in device or embedded SW Portfolio Delivery working with product and platform development stakeholders and manufacturing to establish and maintain portfolio objectives, roadmaps, priorities and backlog
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder project portfolios of high technical and organizational complexity (multi-cultural and multi-site collaborations)
  • Experience in Portfolio or Project Management of device SW or HW development in a highly regulated industry such as Medical Devices, Automotive, Aerospace or similar, managing a Portfolio of projects running in parallel
  • Experience in building and mentoring a strong Delivery Management team managing product owners, Release managers or delivery managers
  • Experience with stakeholder management of senior leaders to influence outcomes and strategic direction (such as set the direction of and guide Integration & Verification team)
  • Strong ability to deliver clear guidance and build high performing project and program teams
  • Experience in portfolio monitoring and performance tracking through KPIs and performance measures
