We are seeking an experienced and client focused Portfolio Management Actuary to join our Portfolio Management team.


The role will see you working to solve a variety of commercial problems to optimise and improve value generation on the in-force portfolio.

This role is based in Sydney to support initiatives across the Australia and New Zealand L&H portfolio.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management;
  • Driving initiatives on the inforce portfolio to increase value and manage risk;
  • Product upgrades and other treaty changes on the inforce;
  • Experience and performance monitoring;

About the Team:

The team drives the execution of the technical aspects of leading the liability portfolios in Reinsurance Life & Health in Division Asia (ANZ and Asia), including:

  • Driving initiatives on the portfolio to increase value and manage risk

This includes for example:
in force pricing changes, recaptures and customer experience initiatives;

  • Support for transactions both predeal as key business management representatives, and post deal implementation; and
  • Monitoring the inforce portfolio and running crossfunctional review in the Portfolio Review Group.

About You:

  • Fellowshipqualified actuary with a recognised Actuarial professional body;
  • Minimum 5 years of L&H valuation and pricing experience in reinsurance, primary insurance or actuarial consulting;
  • Excellent technical knowledge in all areas of liability portfolio management (e.g. experience studies, product pricing and valuations, business planning, financial performance analysis, embedded value);
  • Working knowledge of USGAAP and IFRS17 financial reporting regimes, as well as traditional and market consistent embedded value methods;
  • Analytical and technical skills, with a strong foundation in data, systems, actuarial models and financial reporting systems; and
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to lead meetings and drive outcomes (for both internal and external stakeholders of ranging seniority).
Experience at a reinsurer or with a direct life office dealing with reinsurance relationships would be highly regarded
