The Education and Skills Reform (ESR) division drives reform and policy development based on strategic analysis and evaluation, aligned with external relations for all of the education system.

ESR drives a whole-of-department focus on Aboriginal outcomes and delivers critical programs to improve outcomes in schooling and skills.

About the role


The role provides a range of high quality support in the preparation, writing and management of official correspondence within the Education and Skills Reform Division.

The role will involve liaising with educational officers within and outside the Division in the completion of official correspondence to agreed standards.

This role offers exposure and insight into the innovation, reform and policy development led by the Education and Skills Reform Division.


Key accountabilities;

  • Effectively manage the coordination of official correspondence within the division that meets rigorous requirements of accuracy, presentation and timeliness.
  • Prepare a wide range of written materials including briefings, reports, submissions, and responses to a range of issues in relation to Education and Skills Reform Division.
  • Work collaboratively with Education and Skills Reform Directorates and other departmental staff in the preparation of written materials and responses.
  • Provide advice and support to directorate staff in establishing and maintaining efficient records management, databases and tracking systems.
  • Work collaboratively with and provide guidance to the division's administration staff and build their capacity to effectively manage official correspondence.
  • Undertake program activities which contribute to the achievement and implementation of the Education and Skills Reform Division's deliverables.
  • Monitor and address complex and/or sensitive enquiries and issues, including those that are escalated, to ensure the timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • In consultation with the supervisor, develop an annual work plan that articulates, clarifies and documents the role's specific responsibilities, key deliverables, expected outcomes and indicators of success over a twelve month period.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
