Forensic Biology provides evidence recovery and analytical services in the areas of evidence examination, DNA analysis and result interpretation culminating in expert advice and evidence.

Forensic Chemistry provides examination of drug and trace evidence including analysis and reporting of this evidence as experts in court.

It also performs clandestine laboratory examinations.
To be successful in this position you will need to be able to demonstrate the following compentencies

  • Proven competence in forensic scientific and laboratory practice and extensive post qualification forensic science experience, including proven commitment to research
- innovation, continuous improvement and/or professional development of staff.

  • Proven competence in coordinating and conducting high level research and development projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing high level communication of advice and authoritative counsel to executive management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Queensland Police Service and Queensland Coroner policies, procedures and legislation and their relevance to work of FSQ.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Department.

Mandatory qualifications, licences and other requirements:

  • Mandatory possession of an undergraduate or higher level degree in medical science, forensic science, applied science or a relevant field.
  • Relevant postgraduate research qualifications and a recent extensive history in (1) publishing on significant forensic science initiatives and professional topics (not associated with obtaining academic qualifications) in peer reviewed publications and (2) extensive record of obtaining competitive research multiyear grants and funds
