Technical Specialist: Spatial and single-cell

Children's Cancer Institute is looking for a Technical Specialist: Spatial and Single-cell. To develop and implement innovative technical solutions within the ACRF Spatial Immune-oncology Research (ASpIRe) program for Childhood Cancer. This is a long term opportunity for the right person.

In this role you will be responsible for independently implementing and performing the experimental procedures that will support the vision of the program. This will involve but not be limited to:

  • Sample processing (FFPE sample blocks and bloods)
  • Tissue Micro Array generation from FFPE blocks
  • Preparing samples for plasma proteomics
  • Running spatial multiomics workflows (primarily via the xenium and MACsima)
  • Designing an implemented high dimensional cytometry analysis of peripheral blood
  • Performing the wetlab components of multiomic single cell analysis including BD rhapsody and 10x chromium applications
  • Developing bespoke single cell and spatial assays

To succeed you will have...

  • BSc (Honours), MSc or equivalent
  • High level molecular/cellular expertise with proven ability to operate in an independent manner.
  • Excellent lab skills (experience with modern spatial and cytometric techniques highly desired)
  • Ability to independently manage competing goals.
  • Must be sufficiently skilled to work in an independent manner with minimal oversight.

The exploratory nature of this role will suit someone who can extract relevant information from the data generated and be capable of presenting this to a wide range of audiences in a succinct and professional manner. Critically you will exhibit excellent judgment and the ability to objectively assess any situation. We would be happy to consider highly qualified international applicants for this role.
