About the role

As the Communications Advisor, you will deliver communication strategy, advice, content and support for Parks Victoria environment, conservation, science and climate change priorities.

Your role is responsible for the planning, delivery and measurement of communication that profiles Parks Victoria's conservation reputation, environmental plans, programs and initiatives.

You will provide state wide support for communications on biodiversity protection, feral animal management, climate change initiatives and other programs to protect nature's future.


You will:

  • Develop accurate and timely information across owned, earned and paid channels
  • Create engaging and entertaining content aligned to Parks Victoria's brand and strategic priorities
  • Influence and enable internal partners to achieve organisational excellence
  • Use data and insights to forecast trends, influence decisionmaking, inform campaigns, and mitigate risks/issues
  • Advise, consult and engage with community, stakeholders, industry and government.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Degree qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism or environmental science, and/or related field experience
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team. Be able to exercise initiative and good judgement.
  • Extensive experience in communications, media or science communication.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with government an advantage.
