Job Summary:
The Director, Environmental Conservation and Head of Australia Operations will be responsible for overseeing the Environmental Conservation program in Australia, managing a team of project directors and staff, and developing strategic partnerships with conservation organizations, industry leaders, and government officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide programmatic oversight for the Environmental Conservation program, designing and implementing successful campaigns and initiatives that include measurable goals, targets, and milestones.
- Lead and manage a diverse team of project directors and other staff across Australia, ensuring delivery of critical program milestones and deliverables.
- Foster and maintain a healthy and dynamic team culture that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible.
- Cultivate and sustain a significant public profile for the Environmental Conservation program in Australia.
- Lead development of Australian relationships and assist in the development of global relationships that are valuable to the organization's work.
- Collaborate with senior environment leadership to ensure strategic coordination of work in Australia with the organization's headquarters and global programs.
- Oversee budget and finances for the program, maintaining excellent fiscal management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, advanced degree preferred.
- At least 10 years of applicable experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience.
- Expertise in biodiversity conservation and management, environmental advocacy, and protection in Australia.
- Adept at setting short- and long-term planning goals in line with program strategy.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with effective interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed, and nonpartisan organization.
- Excellent knowledge of current trends and major concerns within environmental subject domains.
Travel: Travel is required periodically throughout Australia and to the organization's headquarters in the United States.
Salary Range: $182,300 AUD - $203,700 AUD
