Making a Difference at EnergyAustralia
We are looking to appoint a Media and External Communications Leader to play an impactful role in developing strong relationships with the media as well as strategic plans to support external engagement with a focus on the Managing Director's engagements. Also, there is an emphasis on issues management and crisis preparedness to protect and enhance EnergyAustralia's reputation.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, in this role you will provide leadership across the function and organisation to ensure that EnergyAustralia is meeting its strategic external communications objectives. This role will also oversee and manage the activities of the Communications and Media Advisor and the Social Media Advisor. Other areas of impact include:

  • Ensuring a robust issues management process is in place that identifies emerging issues. Manage, update and annually test the crisis communication plan, and lead Media and External Communications in the event of a crisis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across all relevant verticals and media forums including introductions and interview opportunities for senior leaders and subject matter experts. Spokesperson duties as required

Being Bold and Moving Fast at EnergyAustralia
As the successful candidate, you will be highly proactive, enthusiastic and accomplished in the planning and delivery of external communications along with solid media management experience. We are looking for a savvy media operator who enjoys the cut and thrust of the daily news cycle.

You must also have proven experience in developing proactive communication plans for a large corporate environment and a demonstrated ability to provide high level advice to senior management and executive teams. Experience navigating complex and sensitive issues, and extensive experience in managing issues and crisis. Along with your extensive speech writing expertise you will be a team player who thrives on challenge, and possesses the ability to think laterally and deliver strategies in innovative ways.
