About the role


The Child Protection Coordination Support Unit (CPCSU) is a specialist CSNSW business unit that operates at the nexus of offender management and child protection practice to ensure CSNSW fulfills its legislative child protection responsibilities.

The CPCSU deals with sensitive and emotive content relating to child safety.

The role would suit an individual who demonstrates a high level of competency in:

  • Written communication, to prepare high quality assessment reports
  • Identifying, understanding, and complying with legislation and CSNSW policy
  • Operating CSNSW systems


You will be required to provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) meets its legislative responsibilities under the _Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998_, as well as those contained in the NSW Government's Interagency Guidelines for Child Protection Intervention.


About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to child safety
  • Is able to integrate information from multiple sources to assess risk (in the context of the role, to child safety).
  • Can produce high quality child focused risk assessment reports
  • Can work effectively and respectfully with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Has excellent written communication skills
  • Is able to process a high volume of tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Has the capability to undertake work within tight deadlines
  • Is familiar with CSNSW roles, operations and systems, and;
  • Is confident working independently and under pressure

Essential requirements

  • Current driver's licence and willingness to drive a vehicle in the course of your duties
  • Tertiary qualifications in Justice related studies or relevant work experience.
