Wood is currently seeking a

Supply Chain Lead in order to grow its Perth Mining & Minerals group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects.

Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future.

A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution.

Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects.

With a number of projects due to kick off in early 2023, the objective of this role is to oversee the supervision and guidance of a deployed supply chain project team responsible for all aspects of supply chain management including materials management, expediting, procurement, subcontracts, negotiation and reporting.

Key aspects of the role include the supervision of the supply chain activities and assigned supply chain personnel working within the project.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of all supply chain activities for the area they are responsible for
  • Provides guidance, direction and support to the reporting personnel in delivery of their specific responsibilities
  • Provides guidance, direction and support to all relevant stakeholders on both Woods and the suppliers specific contractual obligations and responsibilities
  • Ensures all supply chain activities are carried out in accordance with the project execution plan/schedule and/or contracting strategy, within approved budgets and in line with project processes and procedures
  • Reviewing, writing, and assisting with development of processes and procedures, and communication to relevant personnel
  • Establish and manage the project / procurement status report (PSR) in line with project / client required on site dates and current / estimate lead times, notifying any delays to the project manager
  • Establish and chair regular PSR meetings with client, procurement, engineering and/or project management personnel to ensure dates for preorder deliverables are being maintained
  • Establishes priorities, assigns workloads and reviews the more difficult and complex aspects of the supply chain workload.


 Procurement
  • Coordinate and execute all phases of the procurement process
  • Establish and regularly update the Supply Chain Management Plan (project and global)
  • Aid in the study phase of project estimation and creation of execution plans to allow execution
  • Utilisation of Wood Approved Supplier Register (ASR) supplemented when required by project/client approved supplier registers for supplier evaluation, audit, and selection
  • Utilisation of Wood supply chain management system (Convero) or designated systems
  • Carry out Supplier performance reviews and ongoing management ensuring corrective actions are taken where required
  • Ensure that all statutory and legal requirements and procedures are complied with and all actions are fully auditable
  • Ensures that supply chain team have a clear understanding of their role, supply chain processes and procedures and provides guidance, direction and support
  • Promote safe working practices and demonstrate safety leadership at all
  • Act as a role model and champion Woods vision, values and
  • Act as a role model to embed the Financial Management Framework across the business
  • Implement robust performance management and development plans for the team, ensuring any gaps are addressed and development and succession planning is managed effectively
  • Delivery against internal and external in year savings targets as per business
  • Implementation of global/regional/country initiatives as per business plans

Skills / Qualifications:


What will set you apart from other applicants will be a minimum 10 years of supply chain experience, demonstrating outstanding results.

You will have worked for a major engineering company, with expsoure to the mining, oil & gas, or related resources industries having worked on large projects.


You will also have:

  • Bachelor Degree or Equivalent in business related discipline, ideally supply chain or procurement, and CIPS qualified
  • Detailed understanding of key subcontracting / procurement concepts and principles
  • Understanding of Subcontract Agreements and Framework Agreements
  • Experience with various Industry forms of Subcontract
  • Experience in Logistics and Materials Management
  • Exposure across a variety of ERP systems
  • Understanding over Client contract requirements
  • Experience in Supply Chain Principles and techniques
  • Ability to oversee complex commercial evaluat
