About the role:


Provide support and advice to the various sporting and recreation clubs for the use of recreation facilities within the City of Merri-bek.


  • Coordinate the allocation of Merribek City Council's sports grounds, pavilions, and sporting infrastructure.
  • Liaise with sports clubs and recreation groups regarding facility allocations and maintenance.
  • Assisting with the programmed asset maintenance and development of council's facilities.
  • Implement policies and initiatives that support communitybased groups and promote the development of and participation in sport and leisure activities across Merribek.
  • Plan, develop and implement recreation programs and projects, which enhance the quality of life of residents by providing a range of recreational opportunities to the identified recreation, sporting and leisure needs of residents.
  • Coordinate and supervise all sporting facility and ground use, allocation and hiring.

Skills and experience require to perform the role:

  • An understanding of sport and recreation sector trends, policy and programs.
  • Experience in building capacity of community sporting organisations, including conducting sports development workshops or initiatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in liaising with community sporting groups, external industry bodies and contractors on sporting projects or programs.
  • Exceptional people skills that will enable effective relationships to be developed with community sport and recreation providers
  • Proven record of achievement in recreation projects, administration and coordination, including demonstrated ability to consult and work with key stakeholders, develop project plans and manage a range of complex tasks across a number of projects at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with concepts and complexity comfortably and to use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems in order to present high level advice to management.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in planning and implementing sport/recreational infrastructure projects and funding grants.
  • Ability to work autonomously, problem solve and be innovative.
  • Qualifications and experience relating to the provision of Recreation/Leisure Services and Community Services.
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
