About the Section:
The Safeguard Mechanism Section administers the Safeguard Mechanism and sets limits to the amount of emissions that large facilities can emit and creates demand for the Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) generated by emission reducing projects across Australia.
Role responsibilities and duties:
APS 5:
- Assess and validate complex information and reported data, and contribute to compliance monitoring programs in accordance with legislative requirements, internal procedures and guidelines.
- Communicate with influence to a wide range of internal and external clients, both verbally and in writing about technical issues and legislative obligations, providing sound recommendations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of regulatory guidance, regulatory postures and standard operating procedures to reflect current regulatory environment.
- Assist and manage planning activities, programs and project management.
- Coordinate risk identification and mitigation processes within the section.
APS 6:

- Refine risk identification and mitigation processes within the section and Branch.
- Assist in team supervision, strategic planning, project management and policy development for the section.
- Ability to take on and be accountable for large projects.
- Ensure quality outputs for a team including the development of specialist, professional and/or technical expertise and conduct regular quality assurance checks for section processes and manage identified risks.
Qualifications/experience:
Qualifications in science, engineering, environmental, legal or business disciplines are highly desirable, but not essential.
