About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Officer to join our Environment Policy and Standards team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping Australia's domestic and international efforts to protect the marine environment from the impacts of shipping.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of policy development and administration, with a focus on maritime environment protection. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement policies and regulations that promote a safe and sustainable maritime sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer policy, legislation, and international conventions related to maritime environment protection
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform policy and regulatory options
  • Prepare briefings and presentations for high-level meetings
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve policy and regulatory objectives
  • Provide expert advice on maritime environment protection issues
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience in a policy or regulatory role
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and develop policy, legislation, and international conventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills
