We are seeking a Senior Officer to join our Environment Policy and Standards team, responsible for shaping Australia's domestic and international efforts to protect the marine environment from the impacts of shipping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer policy, legislation, and international conventions related to maritime environment protection
  • Undertake research and analysis to develop policy and regulatory options or advice
  • Prepare briefings and presentations on complex issues for high-level meetings
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop Australia's position at International Maritime Organization meetings
  • Identify emerging environmental issues associated with the maritime sector
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and develop policy, legislation, and international conventions
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience in a policy or regulatory role
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong communication and policy skills
