About You


As a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our team here at Development Victoria.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your existing experience and knowledge in Health and Safety, and Environment and develop your skills and knowledge in a values-led organisation with a committed team delivering positive outcomes for the Victorian community.


Your New Role


Reporting to the Director of HSE and Risk, the Safety & Environmental Advisor will play a key part in our Risk & HSE team, and will support the development, implementation and maintenance of the Safety and Environmental strategies and systems.


Role Accountabilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to management, teams, and contractors regarding safety and environmental responsibilities, ensuring compliance and fulfillment of duties.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of safety and environmental management frameworks by actively participating in the development, implementation, and improvement of policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Maintain a learning mindset towards health and safety regulations and best practices, assisting in audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to changing regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the investigation, reporting, and resolution of workplace incidents, including followup on corrective actions and verification of their effectiveness.
  • Support project teams by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining safety and environmental documentation, as well as generating monthly reports and conducting internal audits.
  • Identify and communicate safety and environmental responsibilities on new projects, participate in risk management practices, and ensure quality management through records and document management related to health, safety, and environmental matters.

What You Can Bring (Selection Criteria)

  • Previous experience in Safety & Health including knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 and Regulations and environmental legislative compliance requirements (5+ years highly desirable)
  • Certificate IV or higher qualification in OHS, environmental management, engineering, construction, or other relevant practical experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable, current legislation generally but particularly workplace health and safety and environmental law.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of programs relating to Safety and Environmental obligations and requirements.
