Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Atlantic Salmon Performance

The Opportunity


The PDRF will work directly with Prof Chris Carter and Dr Gianluca Amoroso and be involved in most aspects of the project including the Project and Research Teams.

The PDRF will liaise with industry partners to engage in the translation process between the EAF and marine sites.

The successful applicant will also be mentored by industry members of the Project Team and will have opportunities to engage with the Blue Economy CRC.

The PDRF will also co-supervise student research projects including PhD and Honours students.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake highquality research activities under limited supervision as a member of a team and publish research findings in collaboration, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University's research performance expectations for Level A.
  • Undertake commercially orientated research activities under limited supervision as a member of a team in order to meet the BECRC project expectations including major contributions to meeting project milestones.
  • Undertake cosupervision of Honours, Masters and PhD student research projects including contributions to developing project proposals, student supervision and assessment.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and Blue Economy CRC and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, professions, and industry.

Your Application

  • A PhD in a relevant field and/or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated technical ability in some of the following: bioinformatics; data management and modelling; molecular biology and omics technologies; genetics and selective breeding; practical production biology.
  • A demonstrated ability and understanding of research in the field of aquaculture and or animal production, demonstrated by a strong academic record.
  • A demonstrated ability and understanding of translational research either via actual or potential commercial outcomes.
  • A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive networks within the discipline, with a focus on commercial outcomes.

Remuneration


Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $115,310 comprising base salary within the range of $76,213 to $98,555 plus 17% superannuation.
