We are seeking a
full-time Manager of Policy with
exceptional oral and written communication skills to engage internally and externally to advocate on behalf of the independent schools sector.

What will you do?


The newly created role will lead a small team to support the Chief Executive and Associate Chief Executive to represent and advocate for the independent schools sector.

The team also works closely with government agencies and key stakeholders on matters which impact on independent schools.


The role also involves identifying emerging issues of relevance to the independent school sector, researching and writing papers for the Executive, and drafting submissions in consultation with member schools.

The production of high-quality written communication is an important part of the role.

This position will ideally suit someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities and timelines.


What qualifications and experience will you need?

  • Tertiary education qualifications.
  • Experience in a similar role.

Note:
Teaching experience is not a requirement for this role.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Working collaboratively across the organisation, leading a small team across a range of projects.
  • Monitoring and preempting the policy landscape to ensure
    AISNSW is well prepared to engage in policy discussion.
  • Leading the analysis of documentation and formulating strategic advice on complex issues within the education environment, to develop wellinformed advice within available timeframes.
  • Fostering internal collegiality across teams by producing work that incorporates multiple views from across the organisation.
  • Oversighting the organisation's Funding Agreements with the Australian and NSW Governments.
  • Preparing or reviewing all submissions to external agencies.
  • Demonstrating the capability to achieve high quality work and attention to detail in routine activities.
  • Undertaking work with independent schools in a manner that reflects a service orientation and respects the diversity of views within the sector.

  • High level analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal respectfully with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to scan a range of complex documents to identify the relevant issues and response required.
  • Proven ability to produce clear and concise written communications.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Fulltime availability, Sydneybased role.
