About the opportunity The role of Policy Manager – Regulatory.
Policy and Research is a rare opportunity to influence material outcomes for Australian consumers.

In the role, you will assist the EGM and the RPR team in developing and implementing AFCA's regulatory and policy strategy by liaising and working closely with senior leaders to identify and articulate AFCA's vision and strategy to deliver a world class Ombudsman service.

You will lead the team preparing high quality policy submissions and will embed robust processes to ensure that AFCA submissions are consistent, evidence-based and strategic.

You will identify the priority issues for AFCA to engage with, in consultation with senior leadership, and you will actively identify and manage issues as they arise.

You can expect to cover a spectrum of policy and law reform issues across the whole retail financial services jurisdiction from insurance, credit, superannuation, investments and advice to scams, payments and cryptocurrency.

This role requires curiosity, strong collaboration and excellent relationship-building skills.

You will liaise with internal leaders and teams, industry and consumer stakeholders in addition to Treasury and key regulators including ASIC and APRA.

You will be proactive and engaged with broader financial system developments.

About you To be successful in this role, you will need: Senior experience in a regulatory or policy role, preferably in financial services.

Knowledge of relevant financial services legislation and industry standards and of external dispute resolution and AFCA's role in the consumer redress framework.

Senior experience in managing complex regulatory and policy projects, including managing consultation, engaging with stakeholders, exercising judgment, and delivering feedback.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and a proven track record in establishing and maintaining internal and external relationships.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster collaboration, curiosity and learning.
