The Reserve Bank of Australia's Note Issue Department is seeking a manager to work in its Analysis and Policy section, assessing developments in the use of cash in the economy and formulating polices to support the provision of secure and reliable banknotes.

The role


You will help lead and enable a team of analysts, working on a range of priority topics related to the cash distribution system, such as cash access, use and acceptance, and banknote quality.

You will help to develop capabilities within the team and organise workflows.

The role will involve producing high-quality analysis and policy advice, and there will be opportunities for you to collaborate with other RBA teams and engage with industry stakeholders and other policy agencies.

Your background

We are looking for a thoughtful leader who is passionate about public policy.

Given the nature of the work in the section and department, you will need to have:

  • strong critical thinking skills to guide and produce analysis on complex policy questions and issues
  • good organisational and time management skills
  • demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with the intended audience in mind
  • experience in leading people and coaching junior staff
  • strong stakeholder management skills
  • relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, or related disciplines
Your team

You will help lead a team of around fourteen, reporting to the Senior Manager.

As part of Analysis and Policy section's leadership group, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of Note Issue Department's strategic priorities.
